There's more to betting a game than just picking a side. There's a strategy involved of knowing exactly when to place that bet. Often that spells the difference between winning - and losing.
In Gambling, just like in Investing, timing is everything.
There's a well known phrase in stock market investing: "It's not time in the market, its time-ing in the market!" - i.e. you can stay in the stock market for 10 years straight, shares go up, shares go down. or you can monitor the shares and jump in on an upturn.
Timing is crucial.
One of the simplest strategies I follow is betting favourites early and playing underdogs late.
When you're betting a favourite, why would you ever wait to place your bet? - 95% of the time the favourites will only increase in price as game time approaches. There's absolutely no benefit in waiting to make your wager because the odds are only going to go one way, down!
Naturally, that same strategy works in reverse when we're betting an underdog. Obviously you want to be patient. Wait until game time approaches to bet the puppy. Often you'll get an extra point or half point in your favour, and if you're going against a big team, such as Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool, the longer your wait, the higher your odds will be because the late public money usually comes in on those kind of teams.
Now are there exceptions to the rule? - Of course there are, but 95% of the time its a simple strategy that you follow. Bet the favourites early and bet the underdogs late.
Best Wishes,
Mike A.
